My work began as an attempt to give portraiture an 'editorial' (or narrative) feel. I try to tell stories with images. These narratives can be simple -- a word, a look, an emotion. I try to capture moments of vulnerability, when the the barriers are down and the photographer and subject are unified in the process of creating something real. When it works, it's magical.
In recent years, I have become interested in examining urban environments. I try to photograph the world in which we live, not unlike street photography, but with more of an eye toward disjuncture and incongruities.
